| Naches trail July 2001
We finally managed to put together a trip to Naches Washington. Only three broncos were able to make it, and one quad (none member).
Having such a small group turned out to be a good thing .
We arrived Friday at Kaner Flat Campground. Once we had camp set up, we decided
to make a short run. The trail we decided to take should of only been about a four hour run, but as luck would have
it, we had a little trouble.
The first part of the trail is pretty tight. You weave through the trees and up and down some steep sections. Mike had
a little carburetor trouble on this hill.

Once you get through the trees it opens up and you're in the middle of a shale rock.

If you've seen the October issue of Petersen's 4wheel & off road you
can see we didn't fair too badly. I saw Jon Bundrants '87 4Runner coming out of the trail. It didn't look
too bad with the duck tape job he did on his top.
Tom Boyd's Bronco defiantly got the worst of it. His front end was bent pretty bad and it looked like they were
about half way done with the repairs when we came across them. (Click on the pictures below to enlarge them.)

We had a little trouble of our own. Jay was having some trouble with his motor and had a hard time keeping it running. This ended
up causing some body damage and a lot of frustration.

We had to leave his bronco on the trail overnight. It was nice to get back to
his bronco and find it just like we left it.
A little carburetor cleaning and a new front axle, he was back on the trial
and heading back to camp.

I wish I had some pictures of the lower end of Ravens Roost trail. If you like mud, this
is the place to be. There are some holes
that will swallow most broncos. You can get around the real deep ones, but the bypasses are
a lot of fun. Mike ended up tearing the track
bar bracket almost clean off the frame. The good thing was, he was only 10 feet from the road when it gave way.

Even after all the trouble we had, it was a lot of fun and we all are looking forward to doing it again.....soon
